Why Jacksonville, Why Now?
Jacksonville ranks fifth in the nation for new HIV transmissions. Black, Hispanic, and LGBTQ+ communities are most impacted. Many face barriers without financial support to acquire a legal identification card, essential for accessing social services, housing, and healthcare. It is estimated that 5,000 individuals in our city with HIV/AIDS are disconnected from care, increasing health risks.
The First Coast AIDS Walk
This 1-mile walk honors lives lost to HIV/AIDS and amplifies voices of those living with the virus. It also educates about prevention, testing, and treatment. Following the walk will be an opportunity for community engagement with refreshments and entertainment.
